Brief Introduction

The digital economy has become a core driver of regional development, transforming industrial structures, market mechanisms, and spatial economic dynamics. Beyond technological innovation and new business models, digitalization reshapes resource allocation, firm production organization, and regional integration into global economic networks. While western regions often face constraints in industrial foundations, infrastructure, and institutional environments compared with advanced areas, their unique context offers valuable insights into diverse digital economy development pathways.

This track focuses on the digital economy in western regions, welcoming research on digital technologies, digital industries, platform-based activities, e-commerce, information systems, and data-driven applications. Contributions may address firms, industries, markets, organizations, or broader economic and social processes, using qualitative, quantitative, or mixed research approaches from economics, management, information systems, and related fields. By integrating diverse themes and methods, this track seeks to advance a comprehensive understanding of digital economy development and its implications in western regions.
