Brief Introduction
Digital transformation refers to the profound restructuring of businesses and organizations driven by emerging digital technologies. It plays a critical role in integrating digital innovation with the real economy and fostering new productivity drivers in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). Recent Chinese policy initiatives—including those outlined in the 2025 Report on the Work of the Government—highlight the urgency of advancing the digital economy, accelerating the digital transformation of the manufacturing sector, and supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
These vibrant practices in China offer information systems (IS) scholars with a unique natural laboratory in which to develop theories grounded in real-world contexts. This track aims to develop insightful and original theories rooted in the practice of digital transformation. It seeks to reveal the underlying logic and mechanisms of organizational change within this new paradigm, providing a valuable opportunity for IS scholars to produce high-impact research that explains the practical dynamics of contemporary organizational evolution.
We invite submissions focusing on digital transformation, especially organizational change and innovation enabled by AI. We welcome a diverse range of methodological approaches and explicitly encourage case studies and qualitative research that offer in-depth insights into the practical logic of enterprise digital transformation.
